Edmund the Learned Pig cast posing on stage

Unlimited Impact aims to inspire and engage with young disabled audiences and ensure work by disability led arts organisations reaches the widest audiences possible across the UK.

Fittings Multimedia Arts Unlimited production ‘Edmund the Learned Pig’ is being supported through Unlimited Impact to broker new relationships with regional arts venues in harder to reach locations across the UK and will be producing a Gala performance of the Edmund to students from a consortium of Special Educational need Schools in the Knaresbough district.

Edmund the Learned Pig is an accessible and highly visual piece that fuses sign language, puppets, mask, deaf storytelling techniques, specially commissioned music and songs, with prestidigitation, carnival, Arial-circus and theatrical effects.

The show is a new deaf aware full–length musical theatre experience for children aged 8 and above, their families and friends based upon an unpublished poem by Edward Gorey about a Pig who taught himself to read. Written by Mike Kenny with music and songs by Martyn Jacques of the Tiger Lillies. From an original idea by Garry Robson and Kinny Gardner.

The show can also be seen as part of Southbank Centre’s Unlimited Festival in September.

“Children were agog, laughing and clapping then breathless and on the edge of their seats…..Edmund the Learned Pig is surprising, ambitious and very entertaining.”
Sara Cocker, What’s on Stage.
