Luminate Festival Showcases Let Me Stay

With support from Unlimited Impact, Vital Xposure’s Let me Stay will be on tour in Scotland as part of the Luminate Festival of Creative Aging. Luminate takes place across Scotland throughout October, and spotlights arts activities by and for older people, as well as events for audiences across the generations. The festival showcases projects and events run by communities and arts organisations nationwide.

Let Me Stay will also feature at the Scottish Arts and Mental Health festival for 2014; providing another excellent opportunity to reach new audiences and encourage people to think more deeply about access in relation to older people.

Directed by Paulette Randall and designer Libby Watson, Let Me Stay is a celebration of life and love; a homage to Shirley McNamara, Queen of the Mersey. This work represents a love letter from the playwright, Julie McNamara, to her mother who lives with dementia. A wonderful portrait that suggests Alzheimer’s does not have to mean a tragic end and apologetic withdrawal from the world.

The show can also be seen as part of Southbank Centre’s Unlimited Festival in September.
