The Round 2 Round up Tweet

With the Round 2 application deadline a matter of weeks away, we thought it might be helpful to give a reminder of some of key dates for the upcoming round of Unlimited.
The deadline for applications is 2nd Feb and we are on hand to answer your emails, phone questions and even have skype sessions right up until that date. In February and March, the Unlimited panel will read through every application and the shortlisting process begins. The selection panel day is near the end of March and that’s when we choose the successful commissions. The panel is chaired by Ruth Gould, the Artistic Director of Dadafest, and is made up of a selection of voting and non-voting supporters of Unlimited. You can see who’s who on the Unlimited 2015 Panel here; it’s a mix of our partners, funders and independent artists. Just to note – if your application is shortlisted but not commissioned you will receive feedback on your application; if you haven’t been shortlisted, sadly we cannot offer you feedback due to high volume of applications we are expecting to receive. By the end of March you will be notified if you have been successful or not.
Round 2 is a little different to Round 1 as artists have longer to make work. This time, we can fund work from May 2015 until October 2016, and we are looking for brand new projects or ideas that have not yet been started or have only been developed as far as an initial research and development phase. In regards to 2016 – the Southbank Centre Unlimited festival will happen and there are plans to extend geographically too, so watch this space!
As part of the build up to Round 2 we have been holding Unlimited surgeries across the country, over Skype and over the phone, and so far spoken to well over 100 artists, groups and organisations. We noticed a few questions kept cropping up: how do I find a producer, how do I find venues to produce my work and how do I create a budget if I’m not sure how much everything’s going to cost? If you still have any questions give our FAQ’s a good read through and if not get in contact with email@example.com or give us a call, there is always a member of the team around who can answer any questions you may have. (The answers to those ones are: we do have a list of possible producers but suggest you ask around your contacts first to find someone who ‘gets’ you and your work, you don’t need to have confirmed venues in order to apply and re budget – take a look at this blog post we produced for Round 1 – very useful for understanding what we are looking for in a budget.)
And finally, we are proud to announce that the Unlimited 2015/16 Launch will be held at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff on the 26th of March! We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible for the announcement of our 2015/16 Unlimited artists. We’ll also have an online launch on that date too – so put the date in your diary and be there or log on!
Good luck with your application!
