In case you missed it, we just announced the call-out for applications to our next round of commissions!

We’re ready to get going with the next round of Unlimited, which will see us supporting even more ambitious, innovative and extraordinary new works across all art forms.

We are looking for disabled artists and disability-led arts companies who would be interested in making work through us to send us expressions of interest via our website between 3 October, when the applications portal opens, and 7 November, when it closes. We’ve put together a film to explain everything which you can find at the bottom of this blog.

Things are a bit different this time around, as we have three separate funding strands you can apply for. These are:

  • Main: Unlimited main commissions and R&D awards for mid-career and established disabled artists
  • International: international collaborative commissions and R&D awards
  • Emerging: commissions for young and/or emerging disabled artists to create work or run participatory projects

Each commission strand is funded differently and so is open to artists and companies based in different parts of the UK. As our main funder is Arts Council England, artists and companies based in England can apply to all strands and programmes. If based in Wales, artists and companies can apply for Main R&D awards, Emerging commissions and International commissions; if based in Scotland or Northern Ireland, artists and companies can apply for Emerging commissions.

The deadline for submissions of expressions of interest will be 7 November with shortlisting taking place shortly afterwards by three separate selection panels. Shortlisted artists and companies will then discuss their applications with and receive guidance from members of the Unlimited team before submitting full applications between 28 November 2016 and 20 February 2017. Finally, successful applicants will be chosen by the panels and announced in March 2017.

We know there’s loads of information to take on board, so why not put the kettle on and let the Unlimited team explain more in our brief, handy three and half minute film – watch it below with subtitles, audio description or BSL interpretation.

Get those creative juices flowing and send us your expressions of interest – we look forward to reading them!
